Recovery is key for Seahawks in short week before Bears game

The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a disappointing loss to the rival Los Angeles Rams, and to make things worse, they have an incredibly short turnaround before facing their next opponent on Sunday. Seattle is set to square off against the Chicago Bears on Dec. 26 at 1:05 p.m. PT at Lumen Field.

Coach Pete Carroll was asked about the challenge during his press conference on Wednesday.

“We have to jump together – we didn’t get the same rest that we normally get, so we adjust the tempo, we make a combo day tomorrow which is like a Wednesday/Thursday for us where we encompass most of the installation that we would do on a Wednesday and a Thursday, and then we will be back on track on Friday,” Carroll explained. “We modify some stuff, but the most important thing is recovery, particularly after a tough, physical football team that we just played.”

The Seahawks had to play an unusual Tuesday night matchup in Week 15 due to a coronavirus outbreak amongst the Rams. Through no real fault of their own, they now have precious little time to prepare for the Bears.

“We have another one coming up, so we will manage that hopefully really well and get all of the learning done,” Carroll said. “Our guys are in a groove now, our guys can really turn it around. We can do this, it’s just really demanding physically, so we will get it done.”
